Studying and researching in understanding employees at individual level
through the factor of “Job Embeddedness” case study airside operation staffs in
airports of Thailand is aimed to study the interact patterns between employees working
in the airside and other elements in the system (on and off the job) and to study the
competencies of job embeddedness. The main key informants in aviation industry that
were used in this research are three major groups: aircraft maintenance staffs, ground
service equipment staffs and load control staffs from two companies, Thai Airways
International Public Company Limited and its subsidiaries (WingSpan Services Company
Limited) and Bangkok Airways Service World Wide Flight Services Co., Ltd.
The results of this research showed that job embeddedness which consists of
six dimensions is best describes for the behavior that associated with the intention of
employees to remain or leave their organization according to the corporate link with
organization, harmonize, sacrifice, connection with the community, link and sacrifice
that relate with the living community. The information provided by the research team
that gain from the interview illustrates the factors that make employees decide to stay
with the organization. It also shows the relationship of embedded work and the
willingness to work in the organization. In addition, the application of SHELLO Model,
which is a matter of human factors, including the software, hardware environment,
liveware and organization which is a framework that enhances the understanding of
employees in the organization, especially in the air transport industry. Because they
can be classified according to the theory of human factors.
